July is heatwave month – long evenings, sticky commutes and nobody wanting to cook. So this box was built for the picnic blanket and the office fridge: plenty of crunch, two things to drink, and only a little chocolate to keep out of the sun. Eleven of the 20 snacks are plant-based, and most are gluten-free too. Here’s what was inside ☀️
Our mini snack boxes contain a selection of items from the full size box.
Savoury
Proper Lentil Chips – All the Cheese (31g)
What it is: Lentil flour chips dusted with a four-cheese seasoning of cheddar, gouda, mozzarella and emmental, made with real cheese powder.
Why we picked it: Under 150 calories a bag and a cheesier hit than the usual cheese-and-onion, so it earns its place at a desk.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk), gluten-free. May contain soya.
Eat Real Multiseed Tortillas – Chilli, Zesty Lime & Sea Salt (160g) ★ sharing bag
What it is: Corn tortilla chips with linseed, sunflower seed and quinoa baked in, seasoned with birdseye chilli, lime and sea salt.
Why we picked it: A proper sharing bag for a hot evening in the garden, and the seeds give it more bite than plain tortillas.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Savoursmiths Crisps – Truffle & Rosemary (40g)
What it is: Hand-cooked potato crisps seasoned with dried black summer truffle, mushroom extract, rosemary, thyme and garlic.
Why we picked it: The potatoes come from the family’s own farm, and truffle crisps make an ordinary lunch feel slightly grander.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Tuk In Bombay Mix – Red Chilli (40g)
What it is: A spicy trail mix of chilli-spiced cashews, roasted corn nuts, peas, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, almonds, cranberries and puffed rice.
Why we picked it: Seven grams of protein in a pouch and enough heat to wake you up on a muggy afternoon.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free. Contains tree nuts; may contain peanuts and sesame.
Simply Roasted Low Fat Crisps – Barbecue (21.5g)
What it is: Potato crisps that are roasted rather than fried, made from potatoes, high oleic sunflower oil and a smoky barbecue seasoning.
Why we picked it: Half the fat of a standard crisp with the same crunch, so you get the barbecue flavour without lighting one.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Boundless Chips – Sour Cream & Onion (23g)
What it is: Crunchy chips made from sprouted sorghum and pea flour, seasoned with a tangy sour cream and onion flavour that is entirely dairy-free.
Why we picked it: Sorghum is a grain most of us have never snacked on, and the sprouting makes these full of fibre and easier to digest.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free. May contain soya.
Eat Real Lentil Chips – Creamy Dill (40g)
What it is: Light, crunchy lentil flour chips with a creamy dill seasoning of onion, parsley, dill and dill seed.
Why we picked it: Dill is an underrated crisp flavour, and these have 30% less fat than the potato kind while still crunching loudly.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Huligan Pretzel Crush – Jalapeno Sauce (65g) ★ sharing bag
What it is: Shards of baked sourdough pretzel coated in a jalapeño, paprika and cayenne seasoning, with no palm oil or MSG.
Why we picked it: Big enough to pass round and the heat is friendly rather than fierce, so it works for a whole office.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk and wheat gluten). May contain sesame and soya.
Long Chips – Honey BBQ (75g) ★ sharing bag
What it is: Extra-long, thin baked chips made from potato flakes and wheat semolina, seasoned with a sweet honey barbecue spice mix.
Why we picked it: The novelty of a crisp longer than your hand, and being baked they are lower in fat than fried crisps.
Dietary: Vegetarian. Contains wheat gluten; may contain milk and mustard.
Love Corn Snack Shot Crunchy Corn – Cheddar (20g)
What it is: Roasted whole corn kernels coated in cheddar cheese powder, in a small 20g shot pack.
Why we picked it: Twenty grams is the right amount for a mid-afternoon crunch, and roasted corn survives the bottom of a beach bag.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk), gluten-free. May contain peanuts and tree nuts.
FRANK Protein Bar – Chilli Lime (50g)
What it is: A savoury protein bar built on almonds, whey protein, dates and pumpkin seed, flavoured with chilli flakes and lime powder.
Why we picked it: Sixteen grams of complete protein, no sweeteners, and it is savoury – a rare thing in a world of chocolate protein bars.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk). Contains tree nuts and soya; may contain eggs, gluten, sesame and sulphur dioxide.
Well & Truly Baked Corn Crunchies – Smokey Paprika Sticks (30g)
What it is: Baked corn sticks seasoned with smoked paprika, onion, garlic and herbs, with nothing artificial in the bag.
Why we picked it: Baked not fried, so the fat is lower, and the paprika sticks are the sort of thing that disappears at a barbecue.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free. May contain peanuts, soya and milk.
Sweet
Bear Fruit Snack Pack – Gently Baked Coconut Chips (25g)
What it is: Gently baked dried coconut chips with a little coconut blossom sugar and sea salt, and nothing else in the pack.
Why we picked it: Three ingredients, one of your five a day and high in fibre, which is more than most crisps can say.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Raise Nut & Seed Clusters – Caramel Sea Salt (35g)
What it is: Bitesize clusters of roasted almonds, cashews and pecans with pumpkin and sunflower seeds, held together by a caramel sea salt coating.
Why we picked it: Under 5g of sugar and 4g of protein a pack, and 1% of every sale goes to Magic Breakfast.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk), gluten-free. Contains tree nuts.
SNACK’d Oat Bar – Double Cacao & Orange (40g)
What it is: A chewy oat bar made with jumbo oats, rich cacao and zesty orange, with no palm oil in the recipe.
Why we picked it: High in fibre and it holds its shape in a hot bag, which is not something every chocolate bar manages in July.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Mallow & Marsh Mini Mallows – Vanilla (36g)
What it is: Mini vanilla marshmallows, made with beef gelatine, covered in Belgian fairtrade milk chocolate and whisked in Yorkshire.
Why we picked it: One properly indulgent thing per box is the rule, and a 36g bag keeps it to a sensible size.
Dietary: Not vegetarian (contains beef gelatine and milk), gluten-free. May contain peanuts and soya.
Metcalfe’s Ricecakes – Yogurt and Strawberry (34g)
What it is: Wholegrain brown rice cakes topped with a yogurt-flavoured coating and flecks of freeze-dried strawberry.
Why we picked it: For anyone who wants a biscuit at eleven but would rather have something lighter, this fills the gap.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk), gluten-free. Contains soya; may contain tree nuts.
Yup! Oats Oats With Granola – Apple & Caramel (65g) ★ sharing bag
What it is: A pot of wholegrain oat flakes with apple pieces and caramel chunks, plus a separate apple crumble granola topper for crunch.
Why we picked it: Breakfast that lives in a desk drawer until you need it – add water, wait a few minutes, eat.
Dietary: Vegetarian (contains milk, honey, soya and oat gluten). May contain peanuts and tree nuts.
Drinks
VitHit Vitamin Water – Dragonfruit & Yuzu Immunitea (500ml)
What it is: A still, low-calorie vitamin water flavoured with dragonfruit and yuzu, with white grape juice, Ceylon tea, echinacea and added zinc.
Why we picked it: Something cold and light for a heatwave that isn’t plain water, and it comes in at very few calories.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free.
Punchy Hydration Sachets – Citrus (5g)
What it is: A citrus-flavoured powder sachet you stir into 500ml of cold water, with electrolytes, magnesium, potassium and vitamins C, D and B.
Why we picked it: We picked it for the sweaty commute: caffeine-free, low calorie and it weighs nothing in a bag or a drawer.
Dietary: Vegan, gluten-free. Contains sulphur dioxide.
Nut note: Three items contain nuts: the Raise Caramel Sea Salt clusters, the Tuk In Red Chilli Bombay Mix and the FRANK Chilli Lime bar. Several others carry a “may contain nuts” warning, including the Love Corn Cheddar, the Mini Mallows, Metcalfe’s rice cakes, Yup Oats and the Well & Truly sticks. If you need a nut-free box, just reply to your order email and we’ll build one for you.
